1. Holy Food Market
The Holy Food Market can be found in the 16th-century Baudelo chapel on Ghent's Ottogracht. This chapel was transformed into a covered market with various food stalls and kitchens from all over the world. The Holy Food Market is inspired by food market halls such as in Barcelona, Copenhagen or Rotterdam.
The Holy Food Market offers a wide range of foods at different prices. These prices are rather on the high side be
cause you also need to pay for the experience and the quality. Be sure not to be put off by the higher prices as a student, the portions are generous and the atmosphere is super cozy.
Central to the holy food market is a large bar where all possible drinks are available. The Holy water gin is highly recommended. In the summer I regularly work behind the bar so I recommend that you definitely pass by!
2. Partage
Another great spot for students to get a bite for their buck is Partage. Partage is owned by someone who recently graduated from the University of Ghent so students would easily feel at place because of the young and modern vibes of the restaurant.
Partage is a restaurant that serves soul food dishes with a funky twist. Here you eat sophisticatedly presented feel good food in a sleek architectural design. In addition to the delicious dishes, delicious drinks and cocktails are also offered. Also all student budget friendly. The restaurant offers the possibility to eat indoors, but the lazy students also offers them the option to have your food delivered. This is also called 'Partage in a Box'.
Aside from that, they also offer students a discount of 20% on every meal.
3. FITCHEN
Fitchen is a quick service restaurant specialized in healthy food. They serve warm wraps and bowls with the best tasting ingredients that are low in sugar and saturated fats. You can eat in or take out. Their winter menu consists of these different options: Spicy Chicken, quinoa, Fitchen's spicy dressing, salad mix avocado, sweet potato, Fitchen's agave-mustard dressing, lettuce, bell pepper, coriander, avocado, parmesan, corn Indian summer chicken, and so on. Fitchen is based in Ghent where they have 3 different locations. On the Vlaanderenstraat (Hoek Woodrow Wilsonplein), which is open 7/7 from 11:00 am - 22:00 pm. The second Fitchen is based on the Kalandestraat which is open from 11:00 am - 19:00 pm and closed on Sundays. The third Fitchen is based on the Korenmarkt, which is a very historical and touristy area. This restaurant is open from 11:00 am – 19:00 pm and also closed on Sundays.
4. Hal 16 – Dok Noord
Hal 16 used to be a transformation hall but was rebuild in to a craft hall. In this place you can find delicious Beers from the city brewery DOK Brewing Company for the Beer lovers.
As second you have a BBQ-concept from RÆK. When you want to eat something smaller
like a sandwich you can go to Boterhammen TÆast. There is also a pizzeria named Officina Raffaelli, a bakery called Bruud and as last there is a pastry shop named Bostoen.
These six new concepts are all under same counter.
DOK Brewing Company: They have at least 30 different beers on barrel. And 50 different beers on bottle. They don’t choose for the traditional beers but for special niche-beers. All beers are only temporally available so you can always learn a new beer. RÆK: They grill meat on different ways but also fish. Don’t be afraid they also serve vegetables on the grill for the vegetarians under us.
TÆAST: This concept belongs to Klaas Van De Moortele. For his toast he uses the bread of bakery Bruud. He puts something original up this bread such as Macaroni, Indonesian mashed potatoes, …
Officina Raffaelli: This is an Italian top kitchen, where you can find all the typical Italian dishes like: pizza, pasta, risotto, desserts. And at last there is the typical delicious Italian wine.

Bostoen: Everything is fresh and homemade, and you can order your cake

5. Wasbar
Obviously, it wouldn't be right to not mention the famous Wasbar in a list like this. This place is highly favoured by students. It's a place where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Try their wide range of bagels and delicious bagel burgers while you meet your friends or do your laundry. WASBAR has two locations: Korenmarkt and Kalendesstraat. WASBAR is open from Monday till Sunday, the opening hours are from 9am till 9pm. WASBAR also
works together with Deliveroo, so you can order your meal from home. They have a wide range of food and drinks where you can choose from for a decent price. The cafe itself is very decorated very cozy, it almost feels like home. It also has a very unique concept, now you can do your laundry while enjoying a drink.
