📍Jacqueline

Jacqueline is located in the center of Ghent, near the Veldstraat. The place is situated in a hip neighborhood frequented by locals, tourists and students. At Jacqueline’s you will be offered the most delicious coffee. Besides coffee, they also offer tasty breakfast, brunch and lunch. You get colorful scenes on your plate that will make you feel like enjoying your meal. It’s wonderful! 🎨📸

Besides the delicious coffee and food, the interior also stands out. Jacqueline takes much of its inspiration from Ibiza, where the owner's grandmother lived for a long time.

You can already see this at the facade: colorful tables, lots of flowers and plants, nice accessories and so on. The sunny terrace is a nice spot to hang out. Inside you will find a very cozy and homey atmosphere. Instaworthy ⚡you might say.

The reason we take this one as our No. 1 is because you feel like coming home here. It offers such a warm atmosphere and here it seems like every day is a Sunday. Great, no?

📍Bar Bidon

Besides beer, us students also love coffee and bicycles for obvious reasons. Coffee, because well we need to stay awake and bicycles because it’s a student’s number one choice of transport: cheap and efficient. 🚲

The owners decided to combine their two passions. And BOOM this is how Bar Bidon was created! A coffee bar where we can enjoy a cup of coffee and the best (!) pastries 🍰while being in the habitat of a true cyclist.

You can shop for your favorite cycle gear, and another fun fact is that you can participate in a social bike ride with other students. A social bike ride is a tour around the city with fellow students. A great way to connect with other bike lovers! 💞 Don't forget your helmet! 😉

📍Take five Espressobar

As students, our daily window-shopping🛍️is essential. During your walk along the shops you might need a break. Take Five is the place for you. It is located in the middle of Ghent's shopping area.

Its name, Take Five, is a reference to the owners’ love of jazz🎷.  Take Five is a Dave Brubeck song that reflects the cozy atmosphere of the bar. Who doesn't love the combination of music and coffee!?

Here you will enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, made for you with love and expertise. You step into a world of surprising flavors and combinations.🎶

Take Five also offers unique teas, homemade soft drinks, breakfast or a healthy lunch and delicious pastries🍰!

The great news is that the owners are going to open a second bar🏠. We can already hear you all wondering, where? Well it’s at the Krook, our all time favorite place during exam time, isn’t it? 😉

4: Healthy and organic product for more than 10 years

📍Barista

"What kind of milk do you want 🥛? Almond milk, soya milk, ..." It was in this coffee house that we discovered all available varieties of milk.

This coffee house already exists for more than 10 years. In the meantime, there are 2 locations in Ghent’s old town. We visited their first location and it was a cozy and comfy place. It’s in other words the perfect place to study or to read a book with a latte macchiato, but also to take pictures for Instagram (of course).  Here we can enjoy coffee, bread and pastries. But this brand is not like the others because it only offers healthy and organic products🌱. For example, their bread comes directly from the organic bakery De Trog and the coffee beans from the roaster Deprez. We even enjoyed fresh salads, sandwiches and soups for lunch, as we really liked the place.

We also recommend you to visit the Tender to Barista, their additional location. It’s a boat, (yes, a boat 🚤!) where you can organize (private) boat trips for up to 8 people for a day or half a day, combined with a picnic, brunch or appetizer on board. The place to be to celebrate the end of the exams.  This should not be done after being in Overpoort 😅

📍Full Circle Coffee

Come and visit one of Belgium's first 100% plant-based 🪴coffee bars in the city center. 100% plant-based? Yes, you read that correctly. It is just amazing! A perfect place to meet all types of people.

This coffee house, established at the end of spring in 2016, has a cozy terrace outside where you can enjoy the sun with friends or simply on your own. Where other coffee bars charge you extra for adding oatmeal or sprout, Full Circle Coffee considers it standard.

From reading a book by yourself to a first date with your soulmate😍, this coffee spot is a perfect place. The bar is not only known for their homemade coffee, they also serve delicious vegan pastries. We recommend ordering a delicious vegan donut 🍩 with your coffee. A match made in heaven!
