1. Claw Coffee

Claw Coffee feels like a place built for students and that's why this is our favorite spot.🎓.

It's spacious, and the staff is friendly 😊 the kind that makes your day a little better. What we love most is how easy everything is: you can order straight from your table📱with a QR code, and the service is fast, which is perfect for days you don’t want to interrupt your studying⏳.

The vibe is chill without being silent. The music, the people, the terrace, and of course the huge, comfy couch 🛋️ create a comfortable environment. We also love the student deals 🎉, which make you feel seen, not just tolerated.

Claw is a spot we always come back to. We’ve spent hours here typing, reading, procrastinating (a little 😅), and sipping ☕.

It’s the kind of place where you can open your laptop, order your coffee without moving, and stay productively for hours 🧠✨.

2. Library De Krook

Busy, modern library study space in Ghent filled with students on laptops.

De Krook is one of the most iconic study spots in Ghent 📚✨ and honestly, it's up to its reputation. It’s the most beautiful library we’ve ever seen. It’s huge, well-located, modern, and offers a beautiful view on the water 🌊, making studying relaxing.

There’s free Wi-Fi 📶 for everyone and outlets at almost every seat (perfect if you plan to stay all day 💻).

You can also reserve a table via the QR code📱on the desks or directly on the app, which is super convenient on busy days.

The atmosphere is pleasant, open, and motivating 🌟, and there’s even a dedicated IT area if you need computers or specific equipment.

3. Ghent University Library

A student wearing headphones sits next to aisles of tall black bookshelves in a quiet Ghent University library

Our experience at the Ghent University Library felt very « student mode on » 🎓📚. The library is calm and seriously good for productivity. You can use the Wi-Fi 📶, and the building has several floors, each with different types of spaces from silent corners 🤫 to bigger tables 🪑.

One thing that stood out was the locker system🔒. Since bags aren’t allowed inside the study areas, you store everything at the entrance and only take what you need. It creates a clean, safe, and focused atmosphere, making concentration much easier. We got used to it quickly, and it sets a different study rhythm ⏳.

There’s a computer room 💻 and lots of books 📖 you can borrow to study, you can check books availability in their website. We loved it here, but we especially recommend it for solo work, as there aren’t many tables suited for group projects 👥.

4. Aura Coffee

Bright, minimalist coffee bar in Ghent with high tables, white stools, and students studying in the foreground.

Aura Coffee gives us a totally different vibe from the bigger study spots in Ghent, and that’s why we love it so much ☕.

When we walk in, the first thing we notice is how calm and bright it is ✨. The space is small, cosy, and filled with natural light, making it super easy to stay focused 📝. The background music is quiet and gentle, so it’s not distracting 🎶. This place encourages concentration thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, no crowds, no loud chatter.

Aura keeps things super simple: only coffee, matcha, and pastries 🍰. If you’re craving a hot chocolate… well, you won’t find it here 😅. However you can check out this blog post to find some good hot chocolate spots. 🍫

There’s also a cute little terrace 🌞, perfect for studying in warm weather.

For us, Aura is perfect when we want to write, read, or review notes without the noise and crowds of larger cafés 📖✍️.

5. Take Five Espressobar

Bright, modern Ghent cafe with two students studying on laptops at a long window counter and central table, featuring white brick columns and high ceilings.

Take Five is one of those cafés where you walk in, sit down, and instantly feel like you could stay for hours 🕰️.

We love the big spaces with lots of couches, tables for groups, and solo spots if you want to study alone 🪑📚. Students and locals of all ages mix here, creating a chill, vibrant energy ✨🎶 that makes this place unique.

It is one of our top spots because it’s comfortable, has outlets, free Wi-Fi 📶, and the jazz background music 🎷 makes you want to study in a relaxed vibe.
