## Gentse Sneeuwballen

**It’s snowing snowballs in Ghent!**

Snowballs, a true **Ghent delicacy**. These round treats, dusted with powdered sugar, are filled with a light and creamy vanilla center, wrapped in a thin layer of chocolate. 🍫

Although they were traditionally enjoyed during the holiday season, you can now taste this unique sweetness **all year round** at various specialty shops in Ghent. They bring warmth and a touch of history to every winter moment! Ofcourse we had to try them and we LOVED them! 😍

## Cuberdons

**Gentse neuzekes, tsoepke, gentse neus, top neus,...**

These delicious Belgian sweets are cone-shaped and from East-Flanders, more specifically Ghent. If you are visiting Ghent you must try them! 😍

The “classic” neuzekes have a purple color and have a filling of raspberry and violets. But besides this delicious flavor, there are about 25 other flavors and colors of cuberdons. 🌈

They are available in many places but the most popular place is the "Groentenmarkt" in Ghent. Here, there are two stalls next to each other that sell only neuzekes. This phenomenon is described as the neuzekes war, as they both claim to have the tastiest neuzekes. We think they are both delicious. 🌟

We tried RoomeR, an **alcoholic drink** made from elderflower blossoms, and were instantly captivated by its delicate balance of sweetness and **herbal flavors**.🌿

Its **golden color** and elegant taste make it perfect for sipping on a warm afternoon. ☀️

Created by brothers Jeroen and Maarten Michels, RoomeR reflects their childhood memories in the Ghent countryside.

Whether served chilled, over ice, or in cocktails 🍹, it’s a refreshing drink with a floral twist. A true taste of Ghent!

## Mastellen

Tradition Tastes Sweet!

In a charming little bakery in the heart of Ghent, you’ll find a specialty known as mastellen. These soft sandwiches, subtly flavored with cinnamon, are baked in an appealing bagel shape and have an irresistible aroma that fills the shop.👩‍🍳

Priced at just €0.85 each, they are not only a delight for your taste buds but also an affordable treat. You can eat it for breakfast, but also as a tasty snack or dessert.👌

Ghent's mastellen are not just a delicious snack, they are also part of the city's rich culinary history, originating in a monastery 900 years ago.

And finally, we had to try the Gentse Waterzooi, and it did not disappoint!😝

This classic dish, originally made with local river fish, is now prepared with chicken. It's a rich, creamy stew with vegetables like carrots, celery, potatoes and cream giving it a signature smooth texture. The flavor is rich and comforting, perfect for both a casual dinner and a special occasion.🍲

Gentse Waterzooi is a perfect way to experience the heart of Ghent's culinary tradition. It's a dish that feels both cozy and special, and one we'll remember!🤗
