1: For those who love fluffy pancakes: Luv L’oeuf
Here in Luv L'oeuf you can enjoy both breakfast and lunch. There is a lot of choice, so there is something for everyone. They have ten different types: breakfasts, pancakes & waffles, French toasts and bennies.
Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day you have to visit Luv L’oeuf! This breakfast bar focuses on using organic eggs for their dishes. You can enjoy your breakfast or even choose a boozy breakfast with alcohol drinks included! We know those mimosa’s sound amazing! Although we recommend you take some pancakes with that!

We have sampled the three different varieties for you and all of them were very tasty😋. It was quite a task to finish them all because they were very filling. They were the biggest American pancakes we had in recent times.
OUR OPINION:
All three were very tasty but we preferred the red berries. So if you go u should definitely try them.
Further the service was good and really fast. Polite, friendly staff (kitchen remained open a bit longer for us), pleasant setting but the scaffolding in front of the window was a bit of a bother.
We score the pancakes 4,5/5, they were very fluffy and beautifully presented on a nice plate.

2. For the chocolate lovers : Mayana
Mayana is a chocolate bar in the centre of Gent. The bar is situated in Sint Pietersnieuwstraat in Gent.
You can visit Mayana for different occasions : you can go there for a coffee, but also for a hot chocolate or homemade lemonade.
The shop mainly focuses on offering desserts. For example, they offer different types of chocolate desserts such as brownie, moelleux and american cookies but of course american pancakes are also available.🍫
Mayana offer five different kinds of pancakes with different flavors:
- Pancakes Chocolate 🥞🍫
- Pancakes Chocolate apple 🥞🍫🍎
- Pancakes Choco Loco 🥞🍫🍌🌰
- Pancakes Mayana 🥞🍫🍓+ brownie (only in the summer season)

There is no reservation needed so you can just drop by and enjoy .
We stopped by Mayana and chose the milk chocolate pancakes. As a topping, we chose mini marshmallows. The pancakes were delicious. They were very fluffy and the hot chocolate on top finished it off.
OUR OPINION:
The colorful toppings were a very nice finishing touch. We are on par with all the reviews and give these pancakes a score of 4 out of 5.
Mayana is a place with a warm and cozy interior. Every detail is well thought through. There is ample space and a friendly staff. Definitely recommended! Even after your dinner you can stop by for a late snack as it is open until 22h.

3. A cosy place to eat, drink & study : Gust
Gust, the genuine brunch bar in Gent! You find this cozy bar near the city center at Papegaaistraat 55.
Local high quality products at its base
A menu filled with local products, that are delivered in the morning, prepped and cooked. Not even two hours later they can be your dishes.
At Gust, you can choose between two American pancakes; one sweet and one savory option.
- American Pancakes SWEET (3 pieces) 🥞🍫🫐+passion fruit cream + maple syrup
- American Pancakes SAVORY (3 pieces ) 🥞🍳🥓 + maple syrup
The best service, even when in a hurry
When entering the bar, you’ll get to meet the friendly staff who’ll ask for your reservation and then lead you to your table. When you are seated, you can write down your chosen dishes. The staff will bring your order to the kitchen. The service operation is so smooth that you can be finished in approximately half an hour!
The cozy interior creates a great atmosphere and the music creates a relaxed feeling for the guests. From some tables you are able to get a little view on how things are going in the kitchen which is a nice little extra when being there. With the great pancakes that you are eating, we can absolutely assure you that this experience is great. You should definitely try it yourself!
PS: and if you don’t have the time to come and brunch at their place, please don’t be sad. You can order a brunch box for adults (€58/2 persons) and kids (€12/kid) as well!
OUR OPINION:
The friendly staff and cozy interior makes sure you'll be able to enjoy every minute of your visit! The toppings on the pancakes made it colorful and we must assume the eggs and bacon were tasty as well. We give the pancakes a score of 3,5/5.
If there is one thing we can be (a bit) critical about, it is the price. We do think the price per portion can be looked at as we believe that you can find bigger pancakes for the same amount of money.

4. For the vegan lovers: Stek
Near the Veldstraat in Ghent, you find STEK in the Nederkouter. This is a cozy spot where you can eat breakfast and lunch but also go for a coffee.
On the menu you can find American pancakes with:

OR:

As this place is very popular we recommend you make a reservation which you can book online via the website for groups of up to six people.
OUR OPINION:
We also stopped by Stek and chose the american pancakes with red fruit.
We rated these pancakes with a score of 3.5 out of 5. The pancakes are beautifully presented, with fresh fruit. But they were not very fluffy and were rather heavy. The pancakes are also vegan.
When looking at the atmosphere and coziness, we find this a very pleasant place, there is a calm atmosphere, which is made possible by the many plants present.

5. For the bigger pancakes lovers: In Choc
In Choc Gent is a little coffeehouse in the center of Gent. It's located right across the medieval castle “Het Gravensteen”. The coffeehouse is well known for their homemade pastries, Gent specialties and of course their crazy shakes and hot chocolate.
They will welcome you at 10 o'clock in the morning for breakfast. There is also a lunch possibility in which you can enjoy some freshly prepared sandwiches. It only gets better in the afternoon, when the pastries, waffles & pancakes make their debut.

OUR OPINION:
However, In Choc is the place to be. A lot of people were enjoying a hot choco in the coffeehouse. Despite the crowd, we didn't have to wait for too long. Very friendly service!
