Located in the very heart of Ghent, Graslei is one of the city’s most iconic and picturesque spots. The area is lively, from boats gliding past on the water to locals and visitors lounging by the quay, enjoying the warm sunlight and the amazing views of the medieval buildings surrounding the river 🚣♀️⛪️

Just a short stroll away from Ghent-Sint-Pieters station, CitadelPark feels like stepping into a gorgeous green escape that happens to be located in the centre of the city.
Whether it is covered in golden autumn leaves 🍂 or in the heart of summer this gorgeous location is a picnic lovers paradise !! .
I was met with such a peaceful and warm atmosphere, with plenty of space for you and your friends to lay out your picnics blankets, turn on your speakers, vibe & relax.
And for all my fellow aesthetics instagramers 🙈 you can discover a small waterfall hidden amongst the rocks, which is just perfectly picturesque.🤳🏾😍
Overall it’s a perfect daytime picnic location if you want to relax, explore or even have a day out with the kiddos! with parks and stone archways, it’s a magical place to enjoy and explore in Ghent.✨

Paul de Smet de Naeyer Park is located in one of Ghent’s most peaceful and high-standard residential neighborhoods. 🏘️ It’s quiet, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful homes with a cozy environment .
It is a perfect place to relax , read or simply enjoy nature 🧘🏻♀️. For those who are studying at Hogent or Ugent, the Schoonmeersen campus is only a quick five minute bike ride away 🚲. Which makes it ideal spot for a lunchtime picnic 🧺🥗 or to meet up with friends.
It’s not a touristy park or a big attraction, and that’s exactly what makes it special🍀. Paul de Smet de Naeyer Park is simple and a lovely reminder that you don’t need to go far to feel a bit of peace.⭐️

If you’re looking for a picnic spot that combines nature and history, St. Peter’s Abbey Vineyard is such a hidden gem.💎 It’s got this calm vibe and is surrounded by greenery with the abbey building right behind, which is just perfect if you’re into history or architecture.
The vineyard itself is small but beautiful, with rows of vines and lots of quiet corners to sit and relax🧘🏽♀️. It’s one of those places where you can just chill, eat, and take in the view without crowds around. Plus, the abbey’s open to visit, so you are free to explore after your picnic.
Simple, quiet, and super photogenic, definitely one of Ghent’s more underrated picnic spots.🧺

If Citadelpark is Ghent’s big escape, then Muinkpark is its charming little cousin. 🫶🏾
Tucked away near plenty of bars and food spots🍷✨, this small park has such a peaceful, neighbourly vibe that makes it perfect for a quick picnic or evening chill.
There’s an adorable pond with ducks swimming at the centre that adds to the calm atmosphere🦆, and a play area for kids, making it a sweet spot for families or friends to unwind.
Unlike some of Ghent’s larger parks, Muinkpark has good lighting, so to me it feels safe and inviting even later in the day, So i would recommend if you’re planning a sunset picnic or an after-dinner hangout. 🤍
For my Ghent students 👩🎓, it’s close to Artevelde University, so it’s an easy go-to for students looking to grab food nearby and relax outdoors.
Overall it’s small, peaceful, and conveniently located,✅ Muinkpark might not be the biggest green space in Ghent, but it’s definitely one of the most underrated spots to unwind.❣️
